Laker Moments

Spring sports are underway and the excitement is in the air; from softball to golf and every sport in between, all of the athletes and coaches have high hopes for the upcoming season.

On the lacrosse field, youth will be shown front and center for both the girls’ and the boys’ teams. For the boys’ team this season is looking to be up and down; coming off a 6-9 campaign that saw a first round exit. The Lakers have an experienced defense mixed with a young a developing offense, a formula that could bode well for the Lakers in the long run, as the team has shown early season improvement. The defense is led by seniors Garrett St. Pierre and Anthony Pellegrino and the offense is led by seniors Brenden Connors and Jake Stebbins as well as sophomores BraydenWilkins andAiden Connors. On the girls’ side, senior Center Kelsey Cauchon and senior Defense, Elise Fredricks leads a young squad with a lot of potential in the coming years and following a close defeat against state power Essex High School, the Lady Lakers look to take the next step this spring in DII Girls’ Lacrosse.

Coming off a semi-final defeat to the Rice Green Knights, the Colchester Laker baseball team will hope to get back to the Semi’s and possibly farther this year.A strong hitting team behind senior 1BTyler Peacock and sophomore OF Thomas Vesosky, the Lakers will put numbers on the scoreboard. Pitching depth is an area of concern for the Lakers; however, Derek Sanderson (senior) is the team’s ace. Junior Jordan Bell and senior Tyler Bushey will help fill the rotation despite being less experienced in the varsity level of baseball. When asked about the goal for his team’s season, Kyle Blake says, “With a lot of hard work and cohesiveness, we can make it to the promised land this spring!”

All these above sports; along with softball, track and field, girls’ and boys’ tennis, Ultimate, and Golf are well into their seasons. Check the game schedules outside of Mr. Cieplicki’s office or go to the CHS website and go cheer on your Laker sports teams!!
